Project Overview

The ‘Discover Goodramgate’ initiative is a project funded by the Goodramgate Traders Association to promote the Goodramgate district of York city as a shopping, eating and drinking destination for York residents and visitors.

The centrepiece of the project is a website that contains information on the various businesses and historical venues that can be found in the area. It’s also home to a busy events listings section for local businesses to promote their events.

At the launch of the reforming of the traders association, the management team approached me to design and build the promotional and business directory website. I took their list of requirements for the website and made suggestions for content, structure and navigation which were all approved for the website.

The website required original photography of the businesses and historical attractions in the area so the association commissioned me to spend some time capturing the facias and interiors of businesses that had signed-up to the scheme and to take photos of the historical venues such as the Minster and Bedern Hall.

At the launch of the site I provided the management team with tutorial videos on how to make updates to the business directory and events listings. Occasionally the association will ask me to create custom landing pages to help publicise the larger events.

Although I can never guarantee search engine positions for the sites I build, I work hard to ensure that they’re received favourably by Google and other search engines. Within a year of launch, the Discover Goodramgate website consistently hovers around the top of page one Google search results for ‘Goodramgate’. 👍
