Project Overview

My client, a producer and processor of freeze-dried fruit sold in various forms aimed at different markets was in the early stages of taking their latest project to market — pre-packaged freeze-dried fruit for drinks garnishes. They had produced a brochure in-house using PowerPoint, but soon concluded that their effort did not present the brand, the product and its benefits in the best light.

With a name, brand identity and packaging already designed by an external agency, the company approached me to redesign their brochure which, apart from not best representing the new brand identity, was also not in a print-ready artwork format.

The client wanted a 210x210mm size brochure but I suggested scaling it down to 180x180 to make it easier to hold. Content was supplied by the client and edited by me during production to distil the brand message and improve flow. The client provided existing packaging mockups and product photography which were supplemented by my choice of professional stock imagery where necessary to help tell the brand story. I simplified the presentation of market research data they provided for inclusion in the brochure so as to not overwhelm the reader with complex information and focus on the story that the data was revealing.

A short while later I was commissioned to design a variation of the brochure containing messages targeted to travel retail outlets.
