Sustainable Bag Branding: Designing an Eco-Friendly Identity
Project Overview
The client for this project had recently acquired a sustainable shopping bag company that produced bags from reclaimed ocean-bound plastic. The bags were primarily available at duty free outlets around the world.
The new owners were keen to rebrand to provide a memorable name alongside a strong brand image that clearly delivered the USP to travel retail shoppers. They renamed the brand to Beachcomber and approached me to design the new logo and visual identity.
I felt that the brand required an established feel, so the logo and visual identity I designed took their typographical cues from the eco-conscious movement from the 1970s combined with a strong but simple logomark using a stylised silhouette of a plastic bottle in the ocean.
“We are delighted with the new brand – it is absolutely spot on, and gives us clear direction and presence. I love the way Colin approached this, and it speaks volumes about him. Most designers would have just taken our existing bags and added a logo that might work with them. But Colin took the much braver and more considered approach to build the brand up from its core and then adapt the product fit into that. Awesome work!!”
