Project Overview

While working as the in-house designer at a musical instrument retailer and distributor I was often tasked with creating logos for in-house brands.

One such brand was Octopus Ukuleles. The brand initially had a different name, but management promptly changed it after selecting my proposed logo featuring a simple octopus logomark.

Combining management's focus on producing quality, affordable entry-level instruments with my memorable branding and bold packaging design, Octopus Ukuleles quickly became best-sellers across UK music shops.

The brand's success led to an expanded product range, including guitars, concert-size ukes, an electronic tuner, and a line of graphic ukes featuring my custom decal designs.

As part of the marketing push, I was tasked with designing a website, commissioning and art directing original photography for the site (featuring my work colleagues) and hiring a freelance web designer to build the site using WordPress.

I’m proud to say that the impact of my work endures: Octopus Ukuleles are still being sold today, more than a decade after the brand's launch!
